CHICAGO – The Arena Football League Office announced today that San Jose Sabercats offensive lineman Rich Ranglin has been named Spalding Offensive Lineman of the Year and Spokane Shock defensive end James Ruffin has been named Krossover Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Ranglin
(6-3, 315, Central Connecticut State) appeared in 17 games along the
offensive line for the SaberCats this season. A four-time First Team
All-Arena selection, Ranglin has established himself as one of the
League’s premiere pass blockers. He also showed off his receiving skills
in 2014, hauling in 16 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns. This
is the second Spalding Offensive Lineman of the Year award of Ranglin’s
career. He previously earned the honor in 2011 as a member of the Kansas
City Command.
Ruffin
(6-4, 265, Northern Iowa) collected 38.5 tackles and led the League
with a franchise-record 14 sacks in 2014. He became Spokane’s all-time
leader in sacks this season, totaling 26 over his three-year career. The
First Team All-Arena defensive end also logged three forced fumbles,
one fumble recovery and an interception returned for a touchdown on the
year. This is his first Krossover Defensive Lineman of the Year
selection.
