Missouri shrugs off penalties, upends Allen, 5-2

The Missouri Mavericks' penalty kill was superb, as Missouri survived multiple penalties to beat the Allen Americans, 5-2.
The Mavericks were paced by Trevor Kell, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kell scored 9:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Missouri. Obi Aduba provided the assist.
Allen was unable to stop Missouri from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mavericks eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.
Missouri also got points from Mike Ramsay, who also had one goal and one assist. Rob Kleebaum also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Anders Franzon, Eric Castonguay, Matt Stephenson, Andrew Courtney, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece.
With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Americans exceeded the 30.6 shots they average per game this year.
Allen was led by John Snowden, who tallied one goal and one assist. Snowden scored 53 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Missouri. Spencer Asuchak picked up the assist. Allen also got a goal from Darryl Bootland as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Alex Lavoie and Jamie Schaafsma, who each chipped in one.
Missouri's Joe Howe stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mark Guggenberger made 30 saves for the Americans on 35 shots. Allen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
