Eric Castonguay was all over the ice for the Missouri Mavericks, as he tallied two goals in Missouri's 5-1 win over the Arizona Sundogs. Castonguay's tallies came on the power play at 17:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Missouri and 19:41 into the second to make the score 3-1 Missouri. The Mavericks' Shane Owen was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Owen certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.43 entering the contest.
Missouri stifled Arizona's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 33 shots on goal, the Mavericks exceeded the 29.4 shots they average per game this year.
Missouri additionally got points from John-Scott Dickson, who also had one goal and one assist. Missouri also had goals scored by Anders Franzon and Rob Kleebaum, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Mike Ramsay, who had two, Sebastien Thinel, who had four, and Evan Vossen and Andrew Courtney, who each chipped in one.
The Sundogs put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.2 they average per game.
Arizona was led by Kevin Baker, who scored the team's only goal. Baker scored 2:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Paul McIlveen picked up the assist.
Missouri totaled 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Chris Rawlings recorded 28 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
