Grant Rollheiser recorded a shutout against the Tulsa Oilers as the Brampton Beast picked up a 4-0 win. Brampton was sparked by Jason Pitton, who racked up one goal. Pitton scored 14:48 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Tyler Butler assisted on the tally.
The Beast excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brampton's offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.5 shots per game it averages.
Brampton additionally got points from Calin Wild, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Brampton included Andrew Fournier and Josh McQuade, who scored one goal each. In addition, Brampton received assists from Tylor Michel and Matt Caruana, who each chipped in one.
Tulsa was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Oilers surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Tulsa stifled the Beast's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Oilers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Tulsa puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. By firing 31 shots on goal, the Oilers exceeded the 27.8 shots they average per game this year.
Tulsa was led by Ben Gordon, who took four shots.
Grant Rollheiser made 31 saves for Brampton on 31 shots. The Beast incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Shane Madolora rejected 27 shots on goal for the Oilers. Tulsa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Bochek was ejected from the game.
