The Tulsa Oilers, which found themselves down a man often,
weathered the Denver Cutthroats' power play opportunities and emerged
with a 6-2 victory. With the win, Tulsa evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.
The Oilers' penalty kill excelled, as Tulsa gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.
The Oilers forced Denver's goalies to work in net, ripping 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Kent Patterson made 10 stops and John Griggs made 19. Tulsa stifled the Cutthroats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of the Oilers were also effective in Denver's zone, and came away with two goals.
Tulsa was led by Matthew Larke, who registered one goal and two assists. Larke scored 17:55 into the second period to make the score 6-0 Tulsa. Kyle Bochek provided the assist. Tulsa additionally got points from Nathan Lutz, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Bochek, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Ryan Cramer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Tulsa included Drew Fisher and Michel Beausoleil, who each put in one. More assists for Tulsa came via Adam Pleskach, Ben Gordon, Todd Robinson, and Blair Macaulay, who each chipped in one.
The Cutthroats' offense rang up 38 shots on the Oilers' net.
Denver was led by Mikael Tam, who took one shot.
Shane Madolora made 36 saves for Tulsa on 38 shots. The Oilers totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Cutthroats ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors.
