Brampton beats Arizona 5-4 after comeback scare

The Arizona Sundogs tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brampton Beast would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.
Brampton made the score 5-3 on a goal by Matt Caruana at 18:56 in the third period, and Arizona got as close as 5-4 when Sebastien Geoffrion scored 19:07 into the third period.
Brent Vandehogen was all over the ice for the Beast, as he registered two goals in the win. Vandehogen scored at 17:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brampton and again while 2:23 into the second to make the score 3-1 Brampton.
Brampton's offense rang up 37 shots on the Sundogs' net.
Brampton additionally got points from Calin Wild, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Andrew Fournier also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Rob Collins, Michael Couch, and Brett Smith, who each chipped in one.
Arizona was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time.
Arizona also got a goal from Brodie Zuk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona were Jason Morgan, who had two and Henric Hoglund, Jordan Clendenning, and Ryan Gaucher, who contributed one a piece.
Kristofer Westblom rejected 21 shots on goal for the Beast. Brampton totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Cam Lanigan recorded 32 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
