With the win, the REDBLACKS have surpassed the number of victories that they had in total last season.
Burris was 28-for-43 with 389 yards in the victory while opposing quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell was also impressive at 23-for-41 with 318 yards and one touchdown.
Wide receiver Chris Williams was outstanding for the REDBLACKS with seven catches for 162 yards and one touchdown.
On the other end, Eric Rogers had six catches for 124 yards and one touchdown in the hard fought losing effort.
Entering the game, Calgary and Ottawa were the lowest scoring first quarter teams with Ottawa not having a single point and the Stamps being outscored 15-45 in the first 15:00.  But Calgary was able to strike early as Mitchell connected with Eric Rogers for the receiver’s fourth touchdown of the season.  Calgary then successfully completed their fifth two-point conversion on five attempts to put them up 8-0.
The Stampeders capitalized again upon receiving the ball back as Rene Paredes kicked a 42-yard field goal with 4:47 remaining in the first.
But the REDBLACKS were able to respond and break their first quarter curse.
Former Stampeder Brad Sinopoli caught a 27-yard pass to place the REDBLACKS at the Calgary 37 yard line.  Burris then connected with Ernest Jackson for 24 yards and a touchdown to put Ottawa on the board in the first quarter for the first time this season.  A successful two-point conversion had the REDBLACKS trailing 11-8 at the end of the first.
The Stampeders were able to make the most of their first possession of the second quarter.  Mitchell found Rob Cote for 26 yards to advance to the Ottawa three-yard line, setting up a handoff to Jon Cornish for a three-yard touchdown.  The Stampeders continued their perfect two-point conversion record to give them an eleven-point lead with 11:24 remaining in the second quarter.
The REDBLACKS continued to push to make up the deficit and appeared to have an answer.
Former Argo Aston Whiteside chased down Mitchell deep in Calgary territory, knocked the ball loose and recovered it to set up the REDBLACKS for a 25-yard field goal by Alvarado with 5:45 remaining in the quarter.
The REDBLACKS continued their momentum when they received the ball back.  Burris found Greg Ellingson for a 35 yards and hooked up with him again in the end zone for their second touchdown of the game.
The REDBLACKS had a second try on their two-point conversion after a pass interference call on Calgary but were unable to capitalize to trail 19-17 heading into the half.

With the victory, the REDBLACKS have improved to 3-2 and have surpassed the total number of wins that they had last season.
