LAS VEGAS – A pair of playoff teams now have open roster spots after Arizona Rattlers kick returner AJ Cruz and Orlando Predators offensive lineman Erle Ladson signed contracts with NFL teams earlier this week.
Cruz (5-9, 195, Brown) signed a contract with the Chicago Bears on Monday after seeing action in 12 games with the Rattlers this season. The second-year pro was scooped up from the LA KISS in a move that paid dividends for the three-time defending ArenaBowl champs. Cruz returned six kickoffs for touchdowns in 2015 – the second-highest single-season total in League history – in addition to tallying 45.5 tackles, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery at Jack linebacker, as well as hauling in 27 passes for 220 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver.
Ladson (6-6, 345, Delaware) joined the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday after playing in 12 games along the offensive line for the Predators this season. He played collegiately at the University of Delaware, where he started the final 23 contests of his career at left tackle. Prior to joining the Predators, Ladson began his professional football career as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2014.
