Huge game by Grasso boosts Quad City over Tulsa, 9-3

The Quad City Mallards' Nick Grasso had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 9-3 win over the Tulsa Oilers.
Grasso scored at 1:46 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Quad City and again while 10:05 into the second to make the score 6-1 Quad City. Quad City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa to score on any of its three power plays. The Mallards surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Quad City averages 4.1 goals per game. The Mallards' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Quad City put 45 shots on net during the contest, more than the 33.9 it averages per game.
Quad City also got points from Jeff Lee, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Gergo Nagy, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who also registered one goal and one assist. Quad City also got a goal from Mike Stinziani as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Mike Hellyer, who had two, Thomas Frazee, who had four, and Michael Monfredo, Darren McMillan, Vladimir Nikiforov, and Matt Boyd, who contributed one a piece.
The Oilers forced the Mallards goalie Thomas Heemskerk to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.
Tulsa was led by Ben Gordon, who finished with one goal and two assists. Gordon scored 2:40 into the third period to make the score 9-2 Quad City. Nathan Lutz provided the assist. Adam Pleskach also scored for Tulsa. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Ryan Menei, who had three.
Quad City's Heemskerk stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
