Andrew Courtney lifted the Missouri Mavericks to a 6-2 victory with a hat trick against the Denver Cutthroats. Courtney notched his first tally 18:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:23 into the second and at 17:11 into the third. Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Courtney, Sebastien Thinel and Rob Kleebaum took 15 of the team's 27 shots.
Missouri also got points from Thinel, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. John-Scott Dickson also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Eric Castonguay, who had two and Evan Vossen and Saverio Posa, who each chipped in one.
Denver avoided man-down situations well, tallying one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Cutthroats wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Denver was held below its usual level of production. The Cutthroats average 4.3 goals per game. The Mavericks were unable to stop Denver from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cutthroats eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.
Denver was helped by Vincent Arseneau, who had one goal. Arseneau scored 18:54 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Missouri. Matt Glasser provided the assist. Denver also got a goal from Robin Soudek as well. In addition, Denver received assists from TJ Fox, Michael Schumacher, and Cam Reid, who contributed one a piece.
Shane Owen recorded 31 saves for Missouri. The Mavericks totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Cutthroats' Kent Patterson stopped 21 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Denver registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
