The St. Charles Chill's Steve Makway scored 3:20 into overtime to beat the Wichita Thunder, 2-1 (OT). St. Charles was paced by Makway, who finished with one goal.
Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Chill put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.9 they average per game.
St. Charles also got a goal from Jordan Fox as well. More assists for St. Charles came via Tony DeHart, Chad Costello, Kyle Kraemer, and Martin Hlinka, who each chipped in one.
Wichita put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Charles to score on any of its three power plays.
The Thunder were led by Matt Robinson, who scored the team's only goal. Robinson scored on the power play 2:24 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wichita. A roughing penalty on Greg Brown had put Wichita on the power play. Jon Booras assisted on the tally.
Robert Moss rejected 23 shots on goal for the Chill. St. Charles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Taylor Nelson made 34 saves for the Thunder on 36 shots. Wichita incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
