Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Denver Cutthroats battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Missouri Mavericks. Missouri led by three goals at one point but ended up taking the loss. The largest advantage in the game came when the Mavericks' Evan Vossen's scored at 15:09 in the first period to put Missouri up 3-0.
Denver was paced by Robin Soudek, who racked up one goal. Soudek scored 28 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-3. Vincent Arseneau picked up the assist.
The Cutthroats stifled the Mavericks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 30 shots on target during the contest, Denver exceeded the 26.9 shots it averages per game this year. The Cutthroats struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 19 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.
Denver additionally got points from Arseneau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Denver also got a goal from Lee Moffie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Mikael Tam, who had two and Troy Schwab, TJ Fox, and Garrett Bembridge, who each chipped in one.
Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Sebastien Thinel, Mike Ramsay and Andrew Courtney took 17 of the team's 31 shots.
Eric Castonguay also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Rob Kleebaum and Colten Hayes, who contributed one a piece.
Kent Patterson rejected 29 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Shane Owen recorded 27 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
