Matt Summers gave the Wichita Thunder a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Missouri Mavericks when he scored 4:01 into the extra period. Wichita struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Missouri to score three power play goals on five chances. The Thunder relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ian Lowe, Matt Robinson and Dustin Donaghy took 20 of the team's 38 shots.
Wichita also got points from RG Flath, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Mike Wilson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were Andrew Martens, who had two and Karl Linden, Tomas Klempa, and Jon Booras, who each chipped in one.
The Mavericks put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.1 they average per game.
Missouri was led by Andrew Courtney, who tallied one goal and two assists. Courtney scored on the power play 12:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Mavericks had taken the advantage when Wichita's Lowe got sent off for hooking. Matt Stephenson provided the assist. Missouri additionally got points from Sebastien Thinel, who also registered one goal and one assist. Colt King also scored for Missouri.
Taylor Nelson rejected 32 shots on goal for the Thunder. Wichita incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Missouri's Shane Owen stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
