Allen blows out Quad City, 6-2

The Quad City Mallards had trouble finding ways to stop the Allen Americans, which beat Mallards, 6-2.
Allen pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.
The Americans were sparked by Brian McMillin, who had one goal. McMillin scored 4:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Allen. Jonathan Lessard provided the assist.
By firing 29 shots on goal, Allen exceeded the 25.5 shots it averages per game this year. The Americans outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Allen averages 3.6 goals per contest. The Americans' defensemen played well offensively, producing three goals while racking up 12 shots.
Allen also got points from Tyler Ludwig, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Jonathon Zion, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jamie Schaafsma also scored for Allen. More assists for Allen came via Alex Lavoie, who had three and Mike Berube, Greger Hanson, Ben Power, and Spencer Asuchak, who contributed one a piece.
Quad City's defensemen bolstered the Mallards' offensive attack, as they bombarded Bryan Pitton with 14 shots. The 33 shots that Quad City put on net surpassed the Mallards' average of 25.7 shots per game this season.
Quad City was helped by Matt Boyd, who finished with one goal. Boyd scored on the power play 3:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. The Mallards had taken the advantage when Allen's Garrett Klotz got sent off for elbowing. Gergo Nagy picked up the assist. Quad City additionally got points from Nagy, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Quad City received assists from Nicholas Rioux, who had one and Mike Stinziani, who had two.
The Americans' Pitton stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Allen registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Quad City's starting goalie, Thomas Heemskerk, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ty Rimmer, who stopped 14 shots. The Mallards incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
