The Brampton Beast and the St. Charles Chill were evenly
matched throughout their contest, but Brampton made the most of its
opportunities and won, 5-3. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Michael MacIsaac secured the win for the Beast with a goal in the third period.
Brampton was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Beast put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.8 they average per game.
Brampton also got points from Andrew Fournier, who also had one goal and one assist and Tylor Michel, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brampton included Josh McQuade and Matt Caruana, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Dan Milan and Greg Hogeboom, who contributed one a piece and Jason Pitton and Brett Smith, who each chipped in two.
By firing 28 shots on goal, St. Charles exceeded the 20.7 shots it averages per game this year.
The Chill were led by Nicklas Lindberg, who registered one goal and two assists. Lindberg scored 2:48 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Travis Ouellette assisted on the tally. St. Charles additionally got points from Dan Weiss, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Martin Hlinka also scored for St. Charles. In addition, St. Charles received assists from John Snowden, who had one.
Brampton's Kristofer Westblom stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Beast registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Linus Lundin rejected 28 shots on goal for St. Charles. The Chill totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
