Heemskerk, Quad City blank St. Charles, 5-0

The Quad City Mallards used a sparkling performance by Thomas Heemskerk to take down the St. Charles Chill, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Quad City's 5-0 shutout victory.
Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel was all over the ice for the Mallards, as he registered two goals in the win. Dieude-Fauvel scored at 6:27 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Quad City and again while 6:34 into the third to make the score 3-0 Quad City.
Quad City stifled St. Charles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mallards' defensive effort looked to be improved. Quad City allows 2.9 goals per game. The Chill were unable to stop the Mallards from sending pucks towards the net, and Quad City eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Mallards were also effective in St. Charles' zone, and came away with three goals.
Quad City also got points from Jeff Lee, who also had one goal and one assist and Nick Grasso, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Gabriel Levesque also scored for Quad City. More assists for Quad City came via Vladimir Nikiforov, who had two and Nicolas Rioux, Thomas Frazee, Mike Stinziani, Gergo Nagy, Matt Boyd, and Jim McKenzie, who each chipped in one.
The Chill put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Quad City to score on any of its three power plays. St. Charles was held below its usual level of production. The Chill put an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. The 29 shots that St. Charles put on net surpassed the Chill's average of 20.0 shots per game this season. The defense for St. Charles played an important role offensively, racking up 15 shots on goal.
The Chill were led by Dan Weiss, who took five shots.
Thomas Heemskerk made 29 saves for the Mallards on 29 shots. Quad City incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Linus Lundin rejected 26 shots on goal for St. Charles. The Chill incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
