Scotty Howes had four goals and one assist to lead the Brampton Beast to a 7-4 victory over the Missouri Mavericks. Howes got on the scoresheet 1:16 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:43 into the first, at 4:44 into the second, and at 8:59 into the second. Brampton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Missouri to score on any of its four power plays. The Beast found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Brampton averages 3.1 goals per game.
Brampton additionally got points from Rob Collins, who also had two goals and two assists. Andrew Fournier also scored for Brampton. More assists for Brampton came via Steve Makway, Jason Pitton, Josh McQuade, Matt Caruana, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who each chipped in one.
The Mavericks put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.6 they average per game.
Missouri was led by Andrew Courtney, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Courtney scored 13:32 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Missouri. Colten Hayes provided the assist. Missouri also got points from Eric Castonguay, who also registered one goal and one assist. Missouri also had goals scored by Dave Pszenyczny and Evan Vossen, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Trevor Kell, who had one and Sebastien Thinel, who had two.
Kristofer Westblom made 29 saves for the Beast on 33 shots. Brampton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Shane Owen recorded 20 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
