The Quad City Mallards could not hold down the St. Charles Chill, and Chill erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win. St. Charles let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Chill took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Ryan Berard at 3:37 in the first period. St. Charles went down 3-1 after Quad City's Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel put the puck home at 19:10 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by John Snowden at 13:03 in the third, the Chill got the game-winner from Berard at 15:40 in the third period.
Berard had a great game for St. Charles, netting two goals.
With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Chill exceeded the 19.5 shots they average per game this year.
St. Charles additionally got points from Nicklas Lindberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Charles received assists from Steve Anthony, who had two and Michael MacIntyre, Justin Levac, and Jordan Fox, who each chipped in one.
The Mallards' defensemen bolstered Quad City's offensive attack, as they bombarded Robert Moss with 16 shots. The Mallards' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 32.3 shots per game they average.
Quad City also got points from Gergo Nagy, who also had one goal and one assist. Jim McKenzie also scored for Quad City. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Tyler Yaworski, who had one and Matt Boyd, who had two.
Moss recorded 33 saves for St. Charles. The Chill incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Quad City's Ty Rimmer stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Mallards incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
