AFL is down to 10 teams, seems they are struggling to
survive but not sure why. Vegas couldn't even make it 1 year??? My
understanding is avg salary is $30K/yr, so basically that means team
payroll is $750K/yr. With a TV contract with ESPN & CBS Sports that
money should easily make payroll & then some. So how are teams not
making it? About 10 yrs ago league attendance was doing very well, most
teams avg 10K+/gm. It seems to me maybe owners are wanting to make more
$$$ than they seem to be getting in return. I think the owners are
between a rock & a hard place. I think league would do better in
markets where NHL/NBA are not, but they need the arena to play in.
Spokane has shown it can be done though. I still think this league can
survive & do well, it just needs the right owners who will be
willing to invest & give the team time to build a base.
I agree with what you say and I also believe that
they must stay away from NFL cities like Pittsburg, Green Bay, and
several other iconic NFL cities
