PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Rattlers head coach and general manager Kevin Guy has been selected for induction into the University of West Alabama (UWA) Hall of Fame. Guy joins Dr. James Andrews and Leo Wright as inductees for the Class of 2015.
“I have always been proud to represent the University of West Alabama’s family. It is a great privilege and honor to be selected for this year’s Class,” Guy said. “I am excited to be included with such an esteemed Class as Dr. Andrews and Leo Wright. I have known Leo Wright for years. His son PJ and I were teammates at West Alabama, and Dr. Andrews has been a big part of the University for decades.”
Guy attended the University from 1991 to 1995. While there, he played for the Tigers as a defensive back and a wide receiver. After college, he played four seasons in the Arena Football League and in 1999, helped the Orlando Predators reach ArenaBowl XIII. He coached in the af2 from 2002-2005, earning the most wins in af2 history (52), af2 Coach of the Year honors (2003), and an af2 Hall of Fame induction (2009).
He returned to the AFL in 2006 as defensive coordinator of the San Jose Sabercats, helping the team to an ArenaBowl championship in 2007. He joined the Arizona Rattlers following that season and guided the team to four straight ArenaBowl appearances and three consecutive championships. Guy also earned AFL Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and was named as a finalist for the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
