ORLANDO – The Orlando Predators have added former Arena Football League Kicker of the Year Garrett Lindholm to the roster, the team announced on Thursday. Veteran kicker Mark Lewis – now in his fifth season with Orlando – was placed on injured reserve.
Lindholm (5-9, 180, Tarleton State) earned the AFL’s Kicker of the Year award and First-Team All-Arena honors as a member of the Arizona Rattlers in 2013. That season, Lindholm led all kickers in scoring with 179 points while connecting on 94.6 percent of his PATs and a League-high seven field goals.
Lindholm played in the first 11 games of 2015 for the New Orleans VooDoo, where he successfully converted 90.2 percent of his PATs and hit on six field goals, including a long of 41 yards. Now in his fourth AFL season, Lindholm has also been a member of the San Antonio Talons (2014) and Milwaukee Mustangs (2011).
Following his collegiate career at Tarleton State, Lindholm signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2010 before joining the Indianapolis Colts later that offseason.
“I am proud to join the Predators going into the playoffs and look forward to the opportunity to play again. It means a lot that they would trust me to replace Mark (Lewis) at this point in the season,” Lindholm said. “I know it must be tough on Mark, who has done a wonderful job kicking this season. I hope I can fill in and hold the position up to the standards that Mark has set.”
