PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Thunder and head coach Mike Hohensee have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced.
Hohensee signed a one-year contract with the Thunder last September and guided the team to a 5-13 record in 2015. Inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 2013, Hohensee has spent 29 seasons in Arena Football. As a player, he threw the first touchdown pass in AFL history in 1987. His crowning achievement as a coach was guiding the Chicago Rush to an ArenaBowl championship in 2006.
The Thunder’s search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
