Asuchak's big game bests Rapid City in 7-5 Allen win

Spencer Asuchak had two goals and three assists to lead the Allen Americans to a 7-5 victory over Rapid City.
Asuchak scored on the power play at 4:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Allen and again while 19:42 into the third to make the score 7-6 Allen. Rapid City's power play was ineffective against Allen's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Americans exceeded the 24.2 shots they average per game this year. Allen bested its season scoring average. The Americans have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Allen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.
Allen additionally got points from Brian McMillin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Bruce Graham, who also had one goal and two assists. Allen also had goals scored by Daniel Tetrault, Jamie Schaafsma, and Darryl Bootland, who each put in one. In addition, Allen received assists from Tyler Ludwig, who had two and Greger Hanson, Anthony Maiani, Alex Lavoie, Bryan Pitton, and Ross Rouleau, who contributed one each.
Rapid City's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Rapid City finished with 18 penalty minutes. Rapid City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Rapid City put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.8 it averages per game.
Rapid City was helped by Scott Brannon, who registered two goals. Brannon scored the first of his two goals at 12:43 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Allen. Tristin Llewellyn assisted on the tally. Brannon's next tally made the score 6-5 Rapid City with 4:29 left in the third period. A too many men call on Kyle Stroh put Rapid City on the penalty kill. Justin Faryna picked up the assist. Rapid City also got points from Jesse Schultz, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Sean Erickson, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Rapid City also got a goal from Winston Day Chief as well. More assists for Rapid City came via Jared Brown, Brett Kostolansky, Anthony Perdicaro, and Ryan Palmer, who each chipped in one.
Pitton rejected 27 shots on goal for the Americans. Allen registered four goals on 10 power play opportunities. Rapid City's Wayne Savage stopped 23 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
