scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Denver Cutthroats
picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-1 SO) win over the Allen
Americans. The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Allen got a shootout goal from Greger Hanson. Denver's other shootout goal was scored by Vincent Arseneau. The Cutthroats saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Denver made the score 3-1 on a goal by Daniel Barczuk at 6:17 in the third period. The Americans evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Hanson at 19:14 in the third period.
The Cutthroats were led by Barczuk, who tallied one goal.
Denver got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. By firing 49 shots on goal, the Cutthroats exceeded the 28.0 shots they average per game this year.
Others who scored for Denver included Lee Moffie and Sean Zimmerman, who each put in one. In addition, Denver received assists from Troy Schwab, Robin Soudek, Phil Tesoriero, TJ Fox, Matt Glasser, and Arseneau, who contributed one each.
Allen kept Denver's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Griggs made 42 saves on 45 shots.
Allen also got points from Spencer Asuchak, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Brian McMillin, Alex Lavoie, Bruce Graham, and Jamie Schaafsma, who each chipped in one.
The Cutthroats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Americans' Bryan Pitton stopped 45 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Allen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
