Missouri's Courtney deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Quad City

Behind a great game by Andrew Courtney, who had two goals, the Missouri Mavericks defeated the Quad City Mallards, 3-1.
Courtney scored at 8:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 6:56 into the second to make the score 2-1 Missouri. Missouri stifled Quad City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mavericks failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 22 pucks on goal after averaging 27.9 shots per game this season.
Missouri also got points from Eric Castonguay, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Anders Franzon, Sebastien Thinel, and Colt King, who each chipped in one.
The Mallards did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Quad City puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Mallards relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Matt Duffy, Vladimir Nikiforov and Gabriel Levesque took 12 of the team's 22 shots. Quad City's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them.
In addition, Quad City received assists from Jordan Mayer and Mike Stinziani, who contributed one each.
Erno Suomalainen recorded 21 saves for Missouri. The Mavericks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Thomas Heemskerk made 19 saves for the Mallards on 22 shots. Quad City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
