Garett Bembridge
scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Denver Cutthroats
picked up the extra point in a 6-5 (2-0 SO) win over the Quad City
Mallards. The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Denver's other shootout goal was scored by Bembridge. The Cutthroats overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Denver was down 5-3 after a short handed goal by Quad City's Gergo Nagy at 14:37 in the third period. The Cutthroats tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Steve Kaunisto at 19:56 in the third period.
Bembridge had one goal and one assist to lead Denver. Bembridge scored on the power play 16:01 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Quad City. The Cutthroats had gained a power play chance when Jordan Mayer was whistled for tripping. Cam Reid assisted on the tally.
Denver surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Cutthroats average 3.4 goals per game. Denver's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 19 shots. The 45 shots that the Cutthroats put on net surpassed Denver's average of 28.0 shots per game this season.
The Cutthroats were helped by Bembridge, who had one goal and one assist. Denver additionally got points from Reid, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Denver included Vincent Arseneau and Daniel Amesbury, who each put in one. More assists for Denver came via Lee Moffie, who had two and Troy Schwab, Robin Soudek, Jean-Philipp Chabot, and Jason Cohen, who contributed one each.
The Mallards' offense rang up 39 shots on Denver's net.

Thomas Frazee also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Nicholas Rioux, who had two and Darren McMillan, Jeff Lee, Justin Fox, Matt Boyd, and Nick Grasso, who each chipped in one.
John Griggs rejected 34 shots on goal for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thomas Heemskerk recorded 39 saves for Quad City. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
