Wichita stifles Tulsa's comeback, gains 5-4 victory

The Wichita Thunder came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Tulsa Oilers, but did just enough to escape with a 5-4 victory.
Wichita led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Thunder's Matt Robinson scored at 19:57 in the first period to put Wichita up 4-1.
The Thunder got the win thanks to a great game by RG Flath, who had one goal and two assists. Flath scored 17:38 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Wichita. Erick Lizon picked up the assist.
Wichita put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.2 it averages per game.
Wichita also got points from Matt Summers, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Tomas Klempa, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Andrew Martens as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were Ian Lowe, Jon Booras, and Dustin Donaghy, who contributed one each.
Tulsa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Thunder to score on any of their five power plays. The 36 shots that the Oilers put on net surpassed Tulsa's average of 24.4 shots per game this season.
The Oilers were helped by Blair Macaulay, who racked up three goals. Nathan Lutz also scored for Tulsa. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Drew Fisher, who had one, Michel Beausoleil, who had three, and Ben Gordon and Kyle Bochek, who contributed two each.
David Brown recorded 32 saves for Wichita. The Thunder ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. Brad Fogal made 27 saves for Tulsa on 32 shots. The Oilers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
