Jamie Schaafsma had two goals and two assists to lead the Allen Americans to a 6-3 victory over the Wichita Thunder. Schaafsma found the back of the net 13:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen and again while on the power play 17:58 into the first to make the score 2-0 Allen. Allen bested its season scoring average. The Americans average 3.7 goals per game. With 33 shots on target during the contest, Allen exceeded the 24.4 shots it averages per game this year.
Allen also got points from Tyler Ludwig, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Greger Hanson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Alex Lavoie, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Bruce Graham, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Allen received assists from Brian McMillin, who had one.
Wichita's offense rang up 34 shots on the Americans' net.
The Thunder were helped by Tomas Klempa, who had one goal. Klempa scored 17:49 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Allen. RG Flath picked up the assist. Others who scored for Wichita included Ian Lowe and Matt Robinson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were Jon Booras, who had two and Mike Wilson and Andrew Martens, who each chipped in one.
Bryan Pitton recorded 31 saves for Allen. The Americans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. David Brown made 27 saves for Wichita on 31 shots. The Thunder incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
