Kevin Baker had two goals to lead the Arizona Sundogs to a 3-1 victory over the Wichita Thunder. Baker scored at 19:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Arizona and again while 13:52 into the third to make the score 3-1 Arizona. Arizona's Andrew Engelage was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Engelage managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.47 prior to the game.
The Sundogs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wichita power plays. Arizona put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 18.8 it averages per game. The Sundogs' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game.
Arizona additionally got points from Alex Velischek, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona were Brandon Coccimiglio, who had two and Johan Ryd, Sebastian Geoffrion, and David Rutherford, who each chipped in one.
Wichita's offense rang up 32 shots on Arizona's net.
The Thunder were led by Nick McParland, who scored the team's only goal. McParland scored 3:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ian Lowe assisted on the tally.
The Sundogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Taylor Nelson rejected 20 shots on goal for Wichita. The Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
